How to Get an eSIM for Your Trip to Peru
Moviestar, Claro, Entel and Bitel are the 4 major cell phone carriers in Peru.
Price should not be the only deciding factor when purchasing from any one of these. Customer service is a major issue with Claro, and Moviestar. They will be all nicey nice at the time of the sale but have an issue you need addressed and be ready for the run around in ways you cannot imagine.

Getting Connected
Bitel
Once you have acquired the eSIM at our authorized stores, go to the “Settings” section of your mobile device. Next, navigate to the “Mobile Data” or “Cellular Data” section and select “Add Data Plan.” Then, scan the QR code provided by the store personnel. Wait for the confirmation message, and you’re all set.
Claro
As per usual, Claro has no or very poor customer service and has no good information online on how to activate your eSIM with them. You will need to make an appointment or show up at one of their locations.
Entel
To complete the process with Entel, you need to have:
– Entel Mobile Plan. If you are already a customer, request the change from your current SIM card to an eSIM.
– A device compatible with eSIM technology.
– An email to receive a QR code.
– At the time of activation, you need to be connected to a WiFi network to scan the QR code.
NOTE
iPhone 14 and 14 PRO devices have a new technology that allows them to complete the activation process without needing to connect to a WiFi network.
Moviestar
Once you have your eSIM card (QR), make sure to check the following to enjoy all the benefits of your virtual chip:
– Ensure you are connected to a WiFi network or have a data plan.
– Confirm that your device is running the latest version of the operating system.
– If you encounter any issues during the download, try enabling airplane mode while using WiFi and then disabling it after completing the steps to connect to our network.
Customer Service
We here at Gringotaxis recommend Entel. This is our mobile service provider and there is a reason we use them.
The other providers have terrible customer service. You have been warned.
