Gringo Prices In Peru

Gringo Prices – Real Or Imagined

Gringo prices is the term used for being “overcharged” for something in Latin America. the term is a lot more popular to the North American or European tourist. So is it real or imagined?

Ever Been “Overcharged” Back Home?

If you’ve ever overpaid for something back home, you paid the gringo price. Basically you paid that higher rate because you didn’t know the going rate. To help avoid that in Latin America, never take the first rate they give you, and always say “que!” and sound surprised at the rate.. This will give the seller an idea you know the actual rates.
